The Story about Old Joe

An Experience Worth Relating

When my Dad was in high school, a bunch of friends were standing around and commenting about others as they left that day. They were laughing about the clothes and shirts guys were wearing, and telling stories about other kids.

Then along came Old Joe, one of their classmates. One guy said, “He’s really not very smart. He’s in my biology class and gets nothing but ‘Ds’!” Then all the buddies laughed.

Another one said: “Oh, yeah! Well he’s in my gym class, and he can’t shoot a basket or climb a rope.” They all laughed again. Want to add a caption to this image? Click the Settings icon.

Still another said: “Hey! He’s in my music class and he can’t carry a tune or play an instrument.” All the guys laughed.

Then the wisest of them said: “You all might be right about Old Joe, but I’ll tell you this. I’ve never heard him say a bad word about anyone.”

Wow! I wish people could say about me: “I’ve never heard him say a bad word about anyone.” How about you? Wouldn’t it be great if everyone said that about you? I guess now is a great time for us all begin watching what we say about others!
